What is a F2 battery terminal?

A F2 battery connector is commonly found on Sealed Lead Acid batteries (SLA). The F2 terminals can be in different areas on the top of the battery.  One of the two F2 terminals found on a battery is typically signified by a red coloring around the terminal to designate it as the Positive terminal. The other F2 terminal on the battery is typically signified by a black coloring around the terminal to designate it as the Negative terminal.

F2 Faston Battery Terminal Location and Size

The F in F2 refers to the type of connector it is, a Faston connector, which is sometimes noted as a Blade Terminal.  A Faston connector/ Blade Terminal can be described as a metal tab that comes up out of the top of the battery, then takes a sharp 90 degree turn narrowing at the end.  Some Sealed Lead Acid batteries with F2 terminals may have wiring harnesses attached to them.  The wiring harness will typically plug right onto the F2 connectors/ blade terminals.  Sometimes the wiring harness is welded to the F2 connectors.  If the old wiring harness can’t be salvaged, most battery suppliers can provide one if asked.  A key identifier of the F2 connector is that it measures a 1/4″ (0.250″ , 6.35mm) across.  See photo below.

F2 Battery Terminals are designed to allow for the easy connection of circuits without the need for hard wiring. The electronic device that will plug into the F2 Terminals of the battery will have wires coming from it with female quick disconnect barrels on both the positive and negative wires.

Connecting to an F2 Faston Battery Terminal

When connecting the female disconnect barrels coming from the electronic device to the battery, match the color coded wires to the matching color coded battery terminals.  After attaching the wire leads to the battery, you can squeeze the rolled edges of the female disconnect barrels onto the F2 Faston Connectors to secure them. Most UPS systems and back up system batteries will have F2 Faston Connectors/ Blade Terminals.

WHERE CAN I GET FASTON CONNECTORS THAT REDUCE THE SIZE OF TH FASTON FROM F2 TO F1

    1. BatteryGuy Editor

YES, THERE ARE ADAPTERS AVAILABLE TO GO FROM F2 TO F1. MOST MAJOR SUPPLIER HAVE THESE, BUT DON’T ADVERTISE OR SELL THEM OUTRIGHT – ESPECIALLY IN SMALLER QUANTITIES. YOUR BEST BET IS TO CONTACT A MAJOR SUPPLIER AND ASK FOR THEM. MANY TIMES IF YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THEM, THEY WILL JUST SEND THEM TO YOU FOR FREE..

I need to connect 2 cables to one F2 terminal. Where can I find a dual pronged male F2 connector? Thanks

I want to incorporate a (modular) compression battery connector with an F2 output lead, to push up against a Dakota lithium ion battery F2 terminal, for quick battery change out…rather than unclipping the terminals from the battery when it’s dead. Is there a product out there that enables that?

I would try asking this question in an electrical forum.

I am connecting a Fish finder to a lithium battery. Where can I get a F2 connector in small quantity?

It sounds like you need to convert the lithium battery terminals to F2? But you haven’t said what the terminals are that need to be converted.
