All lead acid batteries discharge when in storage – a process known as ‘calendar fade’ – so the right environment and active maintenance are essential to ensure the batteries maintain their ability to achieve fill capacity.
This is true of both flooded lead acid and sealed lead acid batteries.
I have a flooded lead acid battery that is probably 4 years old….it will still hold a charge but, I actually don’t need it at this time….I hate to get rid of it….never know when you might need a backup battery….
I just checked the fluid level in the cells and it is fine….I am going to charge it. I have a battery case I can use for the battery.
With being 4 years old, how long can I expect it to last in storage?
