What charger to use for a 12v 18ah motorcycle or jet ski battery?

Most sports vehicles use sealed lead acid batteries so unless they are used daily, you will more than likely need a charger that can keep a current going to your battery.

In the case of a 12v 18ah motorcycle/ Jet Ski battery, I recommended that you use a multi-function (smart) battery charger like the NOCO G1100.

These chargers are best for small battery applications from 2.2-40Ah in case of the NOCO G1100 and 2.5 to 32Ah for the Battery Sitter, such as charging your Motorcycle or Jet Ski battery. Both chargers will also handle conventional, AGM and Gel type power sport batteries. These chargers are fully automatic switch-mode chargers.

The NOCO G1100 charger will do both 6 volt and 12 volt batteries while the Battery Sitter is made specifically for 12 volt batteries. A smart charger like these manufactured for power sport batteries will safely charge your battery without overcharging and causing damage. Smart chargers are designed to electronically sense the amount of charge in a battery, knowing its limits.

It will deliver a trickle charge to maintain a battery over time, sensing when it is necessary to do so and can be left hooked up indefinitely for the life of the battery. A typical smart charger will also have LED lights showing the ongoing diagnosis of the battery as well as acting like a testing device. Green for charged, etc.

This type of charger also DE sulfates the lead plates of the battery. De sulfation will help break down the naturally occurring development of sulfate crystals on the battery plates, extending the life of the battery. This technique is also called pulse conditioning.

There are probably other types of chargers on the market that will work, but I know these are tried and proven.
