FDK

Founded in 1950, FDK started from the manufacture and sales of manganese dry batteries. Since then, the Company have made various experiments on the battery materials and then entered the ferrite business taking advantage of its expertise in the battery materials. The Company expanded from the development of ferrite materials to electronic devices such as power transformers. Now, FDK products are used by customers in the various fields such as lighting equipment, computer and communication equipment.

FDK offers alkaline batteries, lithium batteries used in fire alarms and nickel-metal hydride batteries which can be used with repeated charging. The Company is working on the research and development of the battery materials. These batteries are used in many life scenes from industrials' and commercials'. The Company engages in the areas of development and manufacturing of lithium ion capacitor and power storage system which combines the battery and electronic circuits. 

FDK  purchsased part of Sanyo's nickel-metal hydride battery business, its cylindrical primary lithium battery unit and its coin-shaped rechargeable battery business in 2009.
